After completing TOEFL workshop at SMA 4 Sungai Penuh, UNIDHA’s English Department Community Service team, now headed by Yalmiadi, S.S., M.Pd, continued their schedule to hold another workshop at SMA 4 Kerinci on the same day. The team arrived at the school in the afternoon. The principle greeted the team and, due to the time constraint, immediately proceeded on showing them the classroom where the students had waited.
The students looked tired and bored, which was understandable since it was already past school time and they had waited for more than an hour. However, after a few opening words by the principle, Yalmiadi snapped them out of their tiredness and boredom with some jokes, motivational speech, and some stories about his experience as a high-school student in that school.
The workshop was divided into four parts. The first part, which was given by Yalmiadi, was a comprehensive explanation of TOEFL. The next parts discussed three sections of TOEFL PBT, namely Listening Comprehension, Structure and Written Expression, and Reading Comprehension. Dra. Lucy Suraiya, M.A was in charge of Listening Comprehension. The materials on Structure and Written Expression and Reading Comprehension were given by Widya Fithri, S.S., M.Hum and Rabbi Antaridha, S.S., M.A. respectively. Students were asked to work on a few questions after each section.
